Pineapple Party

Have any of you ever had to decorate a church gym?

If you have ever been lucky enough to do so, you know that is is full of challenges!

From basketball hoops to hymn book holders, church gyms are tough to decorate!

AND THEY ARE HUUUGGGE

Or “UGE” as Mr President Donald Trump would say.

So I am just going to toot my own horn for a moment and give myself a pat on the back because I feel like

WE NAILED IT!

Especially considering our budget for decorations was a measly

ZERO DOLLARS!

I partnered up with Morgan from Mommy Convos

(she is the cutie in the stripes)

and

Jessica from Timeless Permanent Make-up

Check out our MICROBLADING post to see her fantastic work

(She seriously is the best in the biz)

and

Jo from All Things Thrifty

and

these other beautiful ladies to pull off this amazing

RELIEF SOCIETY BIRTHDAY PARTY

OUR THEME WAS

Stand tall

wear your crown

and

be sweet on the inside.

Or, more simply put, a

PINEAPPLE PARTY!

We had a speaker who is on an LDS MISSION to teach the gospel to women in jail.

She spoke to us about;

Not judging others,

loving yourself in all your imperfections,

and

remembering that

no matter what you have done

YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A DAUGHTER OF GOD!

It was an amazing talk.

We had donuts

and a

SELFIE STATION!

Aren’t these “pineapple”  donuts so cute?

(and cheap)

Gotta give props to my selfie station props!

TO EAT:

We made

HAWAIIAN HAYSTACKS

Which my Hawaiian friend told me that they

DO NOT EAT IN HAWAII!

She had never even heard of them before!

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

WHAT IS A HAWAIIAN HAYSTACK YOU ASK?

A Hawaiian haystack is rice covered in chicken gravy. (cream of chicken soup and canned chicken.)

Then you top it with all sorts of goodies.

I like tomatoes, green onions, avocado, pineapple, olives, and mandarin oranges on mine.

I know it sounds disgusting… but, it is absolutely delicious, cheap, and easy!

Have you had these before? What do you top your haystack with?

Hop on over to

MOMMY CONVOS

Morgan will spell it out for you!

HOW DID WE PULL IT OFF?

The food ate up our budget almost completely

BUT WHO DOESN’T HAVE LUAU STUFF LAYING AROUND?

Do not be afraid to ask your friends!

-or-

Take one trip to the dollar store or visit oriental trading and you are SET!

For our entertainment

The children learned this simple Hawaiian dance

here is the link to the sweetest little song you have ever heard:

PEARLY SHELLS

Here is the link to the dance the kids did.

PEARLY SHELLS DANCE

It was seriously SO ADORABLE!

I may have cried because it was so sweet.

…Ok, yes, I totally cried like a wierdo!

I am THAT mom.

I cry over everything.

I have officially become my mother.

My favorite thing is that I will catch my kids singing this sweet song to themselves all the time.

My son’s sweet little lisp could just put me over the moon when he sings…

“perwee sheows fram da oshin”

(translation: pearly shells, from the ocean)

LOVE IT

The boys also did the Haka

Myoldest son was obsessed.

(He is the one in the stripes. The one in the orange and gray is mine too)

Couldn’t you just EAT THEM!

HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR DECORATING A LARGE SPACE:

GO BIG OR GO HOME!

Small details WILL get lost in a space that large. So my advice is to SUPER SIZE EVERYTHING!

I think it turned out so cute!

Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen.
