Let me start off by saying that I am perfect.

My house is always clean. My house always smells of fresh cut lemons. You can barely tell three kids live here. It is crazy. You should be jealous.

My disgusting friend, however, has been co-sleeping with her three kids for six years. She is a hot mess. She let me move her super-gross mattress into my house so I could clean it. Ewe, isn’t she so gross?

OK OK I confess!!!!!! This is my very own disgusting mattress and I can not even believe I am showing this to you!

Oh the shame!

This mattress was one of those “out of sight out of mind” jobs that has been on my back burner for years. Every time some one spilled on my bed, or had an accident, I wiped it up as good as I could with soap, water, and washcloth. Then I would douse it with disinfecting spray. Then I called it good.

IT WAS NOT GOOD!

If I only knew how easy it was to deep clean my mattress with all natural ingredients! Guys, this was soooooo easy! Every one should stop what they are doing right now and clean their mattress! Even if yours looks brand new, think of all the dirt and dust mites you could vacuum away!

What you will need:

  • 20 Mule Team® Borax
  • Squirt bottle full of water
  • Essential oils like lavender (optional)
  • Rubber gloves
  • Scrub brush
  • Vacuum

You can find Borax in most grocery stores. I got mine at Walmart. It is found on the laundry aisle by the laundry boosters and additives.

STEP ONE:

(Optional) Put ten drops of your favorite essential oil in your squirt bottle full of water.

I used lavender for obvious reasons, like relaxation and better quality sleep. I also used Melaleuca for its anti-bacterial qualities.

STEP TWO:

Heavily spray mattress thoroughly until it is damp to the touch.

STEP FIVE:

Wait for mattress to dry. This part was AMAZING. My stains were lifted right before my eyes! The Borax just sucks up all the stain. It is magical.

Please refrain from gagging. I am just as disgusted with myself as you are. Ha ha ha. But look at how the Borax just absorbed the stain and lifted the color right out of the mattress!

STEP SIX:

Thoroughly vacuum mattress until all the Borax is gone!

Sooooooo much better, right!?!? I can’t believe it!

For that brand new, fresh, crisp, clean feeling, add a half cup of borax into your washing machine along with your regular detergent and wash your sheets! Borax helps restore dingy, yellowing, white-ish laundry into bright, crisp, clean white laundry. But don’t you fret! Borax also works on colors and is safe for eliminating odors from: stinky gym clothes, moldy dish rags, stinky towels, smelly socks. I seriously do not know how have lived my life this far with out using Borax! I am a true believer!

I am pretty sure I am never getting out of this bed again. It smells and feels sooooooo good.quick-and-easy-mattress-stain-removal
